Privacy Policy

We collect information in three ways:

Store data (merchant-provided). When you connect your store, we read your public product catalog: product titles, descriptions, variants, prices, and images. We do not access order history, customer records, payment information, or any private store data.

Account data. When you register, we collect your email address, store domain, and optionally your name. We use this to identify your account and send transactional emails.

Usage data. We log anonymized quiz session events — questions displayed, answers selected, and products recommended — to power your analytics dashboard and improve recommendation quality. We do not attach shopper identity to these events unless the shopper explicitly submits identifying information through a form.

We use collected information to:

- Operate and improve the ScoutQuiz service

- Build and maintain your store's product index

- Power real-time quiz recommendations for your shoppers

- Provide you with analytics and performance reports

- Send you transactional and product-update emails

- Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your product catalog to train shared AI models that benefit other merchants.

Product index data is retained as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all associated store data and analytics are permanently deleted within 30 days.

Anonymized aggregate analytics (no store or shopper attribution) may be retained for up to 3 years for service improvement purposes.

We share your data only with:

Service providers. Infrastructure providers (cloud hosting, database, email delivery) who are contractually bound to process data only on our behalf and in accordance with this policy.

Legal requirements. If required by law, court order, or governmental authority, we may disclose your data. We will notify you in advance where legally permitted.

ScoutQuiz sets one first-party session cookie to maintain your merchant dashboard login. The widget script sets a first-party anonymous session identifier on your shoppers' browsers to link quiz events within a single visit. No third-party advertising cookies are used.

Shoppers can opt out of session tracking by disabling cookies in their browser. This does not affect their ability to use the quiz.

We use industry-standard security measures: TLS encryption in transit, AES-256 encryption at rest, access controls, and regular security audits. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We maintain an incident response plan and will notify affected merchants of material breaches within 72 hours.

If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, California, or another jurisdiction with applicable privacy law, you may have rights including:

- Access — request a copy of personal data we hold about you

- Correction — request correction of inaccurate data

- Deletion — request permanent deletion of your data

- Portability — request your data in a machine-readable format

- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests

ScoutQuiz is a B2B service intended for merchants, not consumers. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 16 years of age. If you believe a minor has submitted information through our service, contact us immediately.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email to registered merchants at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use of ScoutQuiz after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
